Nahuales – A Mystical Night – Sundays!

ESCAPE to a private island for this sexy show!

It has been getting  RAVE  REVIEWS!

Your ticket includes access to a boat ride (approximately 45 minutes), an open bar, and food, local Mexican performers on a private beach.  $120  and  EVERYONE agrees  it is well worth the experience!

Inspired by a Mexican legend from the Mesoamerican folk region, a nagual (pronounced na’wal), is a human who has the power to shapeshift into their animal counterpart. The legend is tied to the belief that one can access power and spiritual insight by connecting with their animal counterpart within.

We’ve taken that legend and created Nahuales, a Mystical Night – a show where our performers will find their animal counterparts, amazing you with their acrobatic talents.

This spectacular live performance features professional dancers and circus-like performances including a live fire dance. You’ll be amazed at the acrobatic performances held on a stage at a private beach.

The show is approximately 40 minutes long, and afterwards you’ll be able to meet and talk with each performer. A DJ will then take over and you can dance on the party stage and enjoy the evening on the secluded private beach. There are special guests planned for some shows, which may extend showtime.

Your ticket includes access to a boat ride (approximately 45 minutes), an open bar, and food prepared by authentic local Mexican residents of the island that you will visit.

When you arrive, the boat will dock at a pier, and once on the beach you can dance to music played by a local DJ, and watch the sunset while you enjoy an open bar, fruits, snacks and select one of three different types of Ceviches (including a vegetarian option).

After the sunsets the real show begins!

Your ticket to the show also supports local Mexican talent, since the show is produced and performed by all locals. Many of whom you may recognize from other local performances.

Puerto Vallarta #1 rated Food Tours

I have been coming to PV  for almost 20 years now. While I know many business owners and a few locals who work in the service industry, I still do not know a whole lot about how the locals live.

By taking one of the many food  tours offered by Vallarta Food Tours, in just 3-4 hours you learn so much, you will be in the know, like the locals! Taste local food, meet local people  and visit hidden gems and places off the beaten touristy path. Taste food  from street vendors who have been in business over 40 and 50 years!

Vallarta Food Tour’s mission is to help visitors and residents alike enjoy the best that Vallarta has to offer by highlighting off-the-beaten-path, “non-touristy” food and drinks along with a local insight of its treasures. Our love of Puerto Vallarta and Mexican culture inspired us to create the city’s finest culinary tour. We sampled the perfect mole, sipped on succulent tuba water and tasted fresh coconut from arguably the best coconut vendor in the country.

I took the Original Downtown Tour last month.  $52 for adults. (For a couple dollars  extra  you even get a couple beers along the way!) You get 8 tastings of amazing regional cuisine, and that’s enough (more than enough!)  to  serve as a satisfying lunch.  And  you get a 3-4  hour cultural tour and walk of the city by an awesome tour guide who explains the food  but also many local interesting tidbits of information and traditions.

There is a Bikes and Bites Tour. ($55). On a comfortable bike, cover 4.5 miles on this culinary tour, tasting regional dishes influenced by Aztec, Mayan, Toltec, Spanish and French cuisine. This tour is designed for moderate fitness levels. Prior cycling experience is required and all guests must be 18 or older.

Did someone say drinks?? Take the evening Mex-ology tour!  Drink And Eat Your Way Through Downtown Vallarta. Tacos and Tequila are at the top of everyone’s list when they come to PV. This tour gives you both in one fun and food-filled evening. ($79).

  • This 4-hour guided tour is perfect for dinner and will introduce you to the best indigenous spirits and regional cocktails in Vallarta.
  • You will sample Tequila, Mezcal, Racilla, and local craft beer mixed into a regional cocktail by a master Mexican Mixologist. To keep you on your feet you will enjoy a few tacos along the way, including a one-of-a-kind seafood stuffed Jalapeño taco, carne asada taco, and more.

Vallarta Food Tours say, “Our goal is to ensure that all of our tour participants have a fantastic time and leave with a real confidence to continue their exploration of our beautiful city. We recommend taking our food tours at the start of your stay so you can take on the city armed with knowledge and insight of what makes Puerto Vallarta so beautiful, so vibrant and so special. We are proud to share our culinary discoveries with you. Let us take you on a 3-hour adventure, introduce you to the best of the best and help open up a bright and delicious new world just waiting to be explored!” –

We give them 5 PINK CROWNS!

          Trip Advisor agrees  as well!

Stop  by the website and book a  tour!  and  read  the many many great  reviews!

You WON’T be disappointed!

The Puerto Vallarta city tour takes place in the heart of Vallarta, giving participants insight into the city’s true soul.  Besides the Puerto Vallarta Tours offered, Vallarta Food Tours offers Private Group Food Tours and Gift Certificates.  Surprise someone  with a tour!   They will LOVE IT!

Galleria Dante and Di Vino Dante Tapas Restaurant Bar

Puerto Vallarta most beautiful Art Gallery, Galleria Dante and Di Vino Dante Tapas Restaurant Bar a must visit in while in Puerto Vallarta.

Galleria Dante is the largest fine Art gallery in Puerto Vallarta with more than 7000 square feet of show room and gardens on the first level. The gallery represents more than 60 emerging and established artists, of which the majority are Mexican artists. When Joe, Claire & Gena Guarniere purchased hacienda “Casa de Colores” in 1988 for their successful Italian restaurant “Pizza Joe” decorated with art treasures from their travels to Europe, little did they know that in 1995 they would be retiring from the restaurant to run a gallery full time. And once again it is a Casa filled with color!

The gallery is an eclectic blend of styles: abstract, classical, contemporary, surreal, expressionistic and impressionistic! Another unique point of Galleria Dante is the amount of sculpture exhibited indoors and out. We ship world wide! A complete inventory is posted to the website, where clients can also order online. Galleria Dante is open 9am to 5 pm, Monday thru Friday and in high season also open Saturday 9 am to 2 pm. Or private viewings, after hours can be arranged thru Di Vino Dante Restaurant.

In November of 2013 Di Vino Dante restaurant in Puerto Vallarta opened it’s doors on the 2nd floor, incorporating many unique spaces to exhibit art. Di Vino Dante Restaurant is a full service restaurant where the owner, Gena is knowledgeable about wine and art. There is indoor and outdoor seating, as well as an air-conditioned space. Puerto Vallarta Restaurants also opening in late 2015 is a roof top garden and terrace for the expanded menu and private parties. This is not only a relaxing place to dine, with great food and drinks, it is a work of art.

Walk Down Calle Basilio Badillo

In 1982, Basilio Badillo consisted of 3 small hotels and one or two businesses.

In 1988, Basilio Badillo was known for three restaurants, Roberto’s Puerto Nuevo, Pizza Joe and El Tucan (run by Memo who later opened Memo’s Pancake house) . These restaurants were so successful that more restaurants and other businesses started to relocate to this area.

In the mid-90’s there were 12 restaurants on the 200 block of Basilio Badillo, so for years it was known as “Restaurant Row,” or La Calle de los Cafés. Some restaurants closed, and fine shops started to take over. Now in 2015, there are more than 100 businesses in 5 short blocks of Basilio Badillo. There are 28 restaurants, 5 coffee shops, plus 5 specialty shops: chocolates, ice cream, crepes, 2 bakeries. 31 shops which include fine art and folk art galleries, clothing and jewelry. There are two great theatres! There is a hospital, yoga studio, dental offices, 4 pharmacies, 8 massage parlors and more. And for more than 30 years Alano which offers several 12 step programs in English. As a result, the area has been known for some years as the best place in town to hang out.  Check out this VIDEO  by   WeDidYourHomeWork Venura Orozco.

Sapphire Ocean Club and Restaurant

The bar has been raised on Los Muertos Beach, Puerto Vallarta!

SAPPHIRE!

About Seven years ago Michel Pascal Ferrari came to Puerto Vallarta from Switzerland  and  opened Trattoria Michels on Olas Atlas, just a block from the beach. Fine dining in a casual environment featuring classic and contemporary Italian and French cuisine. It consistently gets rave reviews.

Above the restaurant is his Olas Atlas Suites. Chic, sophisticated and stylish apartment suites that come in 3 different  sizes.

So it’s no wonder, when a prime piece of real estate became available right on the  beach, this savvy businessman saw an opportunity to bring chic, casual sophistication and style to the Los Muertos Beach!

Located just to the right (north) of Blue Chairs, Sapphire  is a Restaurant, a Lounge, and an Ocean front beach club! A new multifaceted entertainment destination bringing a new level of casual sophistication to Puerto Vallarta´s vibrant day and night life. The whole complex is a block long.

The restaurant, Bistrot Local, is an exceptional ocean front dining experience. A view to die for.  Enjoy the essence of the tropics while dining on Mediterranean specialties that blend the best of European style with the freshest local ingredients. Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Scallops, Shrimp, pork, Filet Mignon, salads, sandwiches, the ever changing menu has something for everyones palate.

Enjoy the ocean front sunsets while savoring grilled meats and fish and sipping one of the many wines from an extensive list.

Your host Michel Pascal Ferrari has combined the sophistication of his native Switzerland with the welcoming warmth of his adopted Mexico to create a unique space to savor and sip.

BEST SPA Puerto Vallarta Ohtli at Marriott

When most people speak of Puerto Vallarta, they speak  of Old Vallarta. The original Vallarta. Quaint streets, little shops, boutique hotels, bars, beaches, restaurants  and more!

Then, there  is Nuevo Vallarta,  about  20 minutes  north of Old Vallarta.  Close to the airport. This is where  the cruise ships  docks  and you have all of the large  hotel resorts, most of them in the Hotel Zone.

Some people choose to stay in Nuevo Vallarta because of the luxury resorts on sprawling acres. They can relax at the pool, enjoy spa services and then cab or bus to Old Vallarta, to enjoy  the “downtown”  and shopping and cultural things to do, as well as nightlife.

One property in Nuevo that   WE LOVE  is  CasaMagna Marriott. It is set along the curve of Banderas Bay on the Pacific Coast at the base of the majestic Sierra Madre Mountains. (CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta was one of the first hotels that received a Certification for the LGBT segment. They are also a “TAG Approved” hotel, and member of  IGLTA ; International Gay Lesbian Travel Association).

Removed from the crowded Hotel Zone, the CasaMagna Marriott is located in exclusive Marina Vallarta, a perfect spot for an evening stroll by magnificent yachts and outdoor cafés. It is quite a spectacular and lavish setting.

Throughout  Vallarta they are known for their Spa! The resort features a 22,000 square foot Ohtli Spa—the most spacious complete service resort spa in Puerto Vallarta.

Through its cultural sensitivity and the integration of healing and hospitality with the traditions of the diverse generations of people who have shaped Puerto Vallarta, the Ohtli Spa specializes in a balanced and authentic wellness approach.

The Ohtli Spa introduces ancient healing traditions and treatments from the Huichol Indians, fused with modern techniques, to help you achieve the perfect balance between body, mind and soul.

The Spa treatments have been carefully designed by experts to provide you a unique experience and help you reach a balance between body and mind. Massages, couples massages, facials, manicures, exfoliate and submerge yourself in deep relaxation while enjoying a therapy bath, or an aromatherapy treatment. Many services to choose from.

Among the spa’s most enticing features is Iyari Grand Luxury Suite—a 280 square foot private room designed as a refuge for guests seeking a truly indulgent spa experience, specialized spa packages, couples services, small groups or celebrities seeking anonymity.

Whether   you choose to stay in Old Vallarta or Nuevo Vallarta, you MUST make a trip to this Spa!

Puerto Vallarta Restaurant Week 2015

35 Participating Restaurants Restaurant Week 2015 in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit

Restaurantera annual Restaurant Week promotion organized by Vallarta Lifestyles Publishing Group in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, has confirmed the participation of 35 restaurants (at press time)  for  2015. This is the same number of participating restaurants last year. “We are thrilled with the response we have received this year, we have six restaurants participating for the first time,” said Paco Ojeda, one of the event coordinators.

This is the eleventh edition of Restaurant Week to be held in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit from 15 to 31 May. During these 17 days, participating restaurants offer a set price three times (starter, main course and dessert) with three options to choose from in each time. Restaurants can choose the price range of your menu between $ 199 and $ 299 pesos per person, drinks and gratuities are not included.
The event is organized by Vallarta Lifestyles Publishing Group which is responsible for promoting and producing print and digital menus for each participating restaurant. Furthermore, Restaurant Week has the support of major sponsors who help promote the event of regional, national and international, such as: The Tourism Trust of Puerto Vallarta, the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Riviera Nayarit and Bay Vallarta magazine.

The six restaurants participating for the first time in Restaurant Week are: Aged Lemon, Dante Di Vino, La Vaca Argentina, Las Adelitas, Pancho Villa Burguers and Señor Frog (not included in the list restaurants that have previously participated and have changed their menus, concepts or names). There are also restaurants that have successfully participated in all editions of the event, as Archie’s Wok, Café des Artistes, Daiquiri Dick’s, The Myrtle, The River Café and Trio. In addition, 27 restaurants enrolled this year have participated in at least another edition of this event, which puts Restaurant Week as one of the most successful regional culinary events.

One issue that has been debated in recent years has been the Restaurant Week menu price. Several restaurants say it is very difficult to offer its guests a genuine dining experience with the prices that currently are handled in the event. That said, there restaurant recognize that Restaurant Week is designed as a cover letter, an invitation for visitors and locals to experience the culinary experience of several restaurants. A sort of welcome menu that challenges them to be creative. And it also becomes an unforgettable experience that gives them new clientele.

“We received helpful feedback from participating restaurants through the years and diners itself to determine the price of menus, which should work for restaurants and reflect what diners are willing to pay for a new dining experience” Paco Ojeda said. “Ultimately, it is almost impossible to satisfy everyone, but we do everything possible to produce the event with the best quality and encourage participating restaurants to offer a first class service that will make the new diners become frequent clients “.

Here is the complete list of participating restaurants:
Aged Lemon, Archie’s Wok, Barcelona Tapas, Organic Bistro @ Red Sky, Bravo’s, Coco’s Kitchen, Tropical Coco, Café des Artistes Bistro Gourmet, Daiquiri Dick’s, Di Wine Dante, The Myrtle, Gourmet, Gaby’s Restaurant Bar, Hacienda San Angel Gourmet, Kaiser Maximilian, La Cigale French Bistro, La Vaca Argentina, Las Adelitas, Layla’s Restaurant, Madison South @ Casa Isabel, Mark’s Bar & Grill, Mikado @ Casamagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, Nicksan, No Way Jose !, Pacho Villa Burguers, Señor Frog, Serrano’s Meat House, Si Señor Garden, Yes Lord Beach, Taste Restaurant @ House Dome, The Blue Shrimp, The River Café, The Swedes, and Tuna Trio Blanca.

Red Cabbage Restaurant – Hidden Gem in Puerto Vallarta

One of the locals in Vallarta showed us this place. Which is what I love.  Ask the locals, “what is your favorite place to eat?”  and you get answers  of hidden gems!

But word is getting out!  They were written up in Bon Appetit  and  New York Times!

The atmosphere is simple and casual, with walls covered in a selection of bohemian and eclectic artwork. Dinner selections feature menus from Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera’s fiestas.  Funky and fun, this hidden spot pays homage to Frida and Diego in both decor and menu.

Authentic and traditional Mexican meals.  Fantastic vegetarian menu and lots of great starters, soups and dinners to satisfy everyones taste. Everyone at my table loved the peanut soup. I found the mole sauce to be one of the best I have ever had! Homemade  sauces and food cooked with love is what you find here.

When owner Lola Bravo first opened, people were worried for her.  (Some 20 years ago). Choosing a place off the beaten path – and serving traditional Mexican meals….well,  she does just fine!  Word has spread, but you can still get a table here – most times.

Lola believes that the cuisine of Mexico is as varied as Chinese, Italian or French cuisine. Every region has its own style and specialties and every chef has their own way of creating a dish. The experience of Mexican food in the U.S. and Canada rarely encompasses the wide variety of flavors and ingredients found in classic Mexican cuisine.

Preparation can be very labor intensive and there are no shortcuts to producing the best this cuisine has to offer. It is this type of food that Lola and Carmen create at The Red Cabbage Cafe and Cooking School. – There is also  a cookbook and DVD  available.

Red Cabbage gets consistently high ratings on TripAdvisor  .

This is a non-smoking restaurant.

Cash Only.  And reservations suggested – by phone. Call after 3pm.  223-0411

It is a fantastic walk from Centro Vallarta! – Go east on Calle Lazaro Cardenas past the Emiliano Zapata Market to the end of the street at the river where you turn right onto Calle Rivera del Rio. About two blocks further, just around the curve in the road you will see the brightly lit Red Cabbage Cafe!

From first glance you don’t know what to expect. It looks just like a simple restaurant nestled in the heart of Puerto Vallarta.  There’s nothing flashy or extravagant on the outside to let you know that the restaurants there. Its literally one of those places where you need to know where your going or you could miss it.

But everyone comes for the fantastic  home cooked food and flavors! From the first bite of your appetizers to the last bite of your entrees…I feel confident you will be  in food heaven.

Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens’ Tourism Award

The Vallarta Botanical Garden has once again been distinguished as one of the ‘Top 10 North American Gardens Worth Traveling For’ by the Canadian Garden Tourism Council. The award was presented on March 17, 2015  at the Garden Tourism Conference in Toronto.

Robert Price and his mother Betty founded the Vallarta Botanical Gardens in 2004 after realizing the need for conservation and environmental awareness in the area. Bob was specifically concerned with the numbers of orchids that poachers were taking from the nearby jungles to sell commercially.

He envisioned a place where orchids could be propagated and displayed without depleting the local populations. The Garden opened to the public in 2005 and has been flourishing ever since.

The creation of Vallarta Botanical Gardens has provided an unprecedented opportunity for the community to share the wonder of the vast diversity of Mexico’s plant species with the world.  They have assembled botanical collections in a safe environment with viewing trails and have already built the most-visited public collection of orchids in the country of Mexico.

More orchid species are found in Jalisco than in any other Mexican state. A current goal is the creation of the National Collection of Mexican Orchids, the most complete collection of Mexican orchids anywhere in the country.

Its about  30-40  minutes  south  of Romantica Zone.  A taxi is about  $20.  Buses  go there as well.  Admission  is  just 80 Pesos. (about $6).

Gay Bar Hopping Puerto Vallarta

Whether you are traveling alone  or with a group,  Gay Vallarta Bar Hopping is tons of fun!   Experience the best personalized nightlife service, meet people from all over the world, and discover 7 of the best gay hot spots while you have a drink at each stop and are having the time of your life…..all in five hours.

This tour is a great way to see the clubs and make new friends, while visiting Puerto Vallarta!

Christian Serrano the owner  says, “I decided to create the tour because so many clients I had would ask “what can we do tonight” or “what places do you recommend?” Sometimes they couldn’t find some places or got there too early or too late and missed the spirit of the venue. I wanted every visitor to experience the very best of Vallarta’s gay nightlife and fall in love with this magical town the same way I did.

The bar hopping tour is a unique service that I created using my 9 years of knowledge living in PV full time and going out a LOT hehe!! I also incorporated my customer service knowledge that I learned in school and working in the US for a national corporate restaurant chain.”

BOOK  IN ADVANCE.  Spaces  are limited  and some nights  DO SELL OUT!   Prices  range  from  $60-$130  depending on the night  and which liquor package is chosen  and if dinner is included.  (Dinner is included  Friday and Saturday, but not on Thursdays).
