Puerto Vallarta Gay Pride Week May 2024
LGBTQ+ Tourism Makes Up 40% of Vallarta’s Tourism GDP
Puerto Vallarta has always been a welcoming haven for LGBTQ+ travelers. Now, the undeniable impact of this community on the city’s finances is finally clear.
In 2023, a record-breaking 2 million LGBTQ+ tourists visited Puerto Vallarta, according to data released by the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust. This influx injected a whopping $17 billion pesos into the local economy.
“Vallarta Pride stands as the most significant LGBT+ pride celebration on a beach in North America,” explained Raúl Alfaro Segovia, managing partner of RPA, the public relations firm managing the event. “Furthermore, Puerto Vallarta holds membership in the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA), solidifying its commitment to this vital market.”
The upcoming Vallarta Pride boasts a diverse schedule, including:
- A flag raising ceremony and recognition of Kenya Cuevas as LGBT+ Activist of the Year (May 23rd, Lázaro Cárdenas Park).
- A retrospective fashion show by Mexican designer Armando Mafud (May 21st, Industry Club, Zona Romántica).
- The “Pride Sun Festival,” a social and commercial event running from May 23rd to 25th at Lázaro Cárdenas Park.
- The “Rainbow Pride” race, a 3km and 6km run along the Malecón (May 25th).
- The official pride parade, led by activist Kenya Cuevas, featuring over 55 floats (May 25th).
- The “Pride Beach Party” for community connection and celebration (May 25th, Olas Altas Beach).
- An art auction benefiting the Arte Vallarta Museo association (May 26th, Púlpito Street).

Vallarta Pride arises from the initiative to create an Association that promotes and defends equality for the LGBTQ+ community being much more than an exciting event full of fun and entertainment, as it includes cultural and artistic events, film festivals, sports, fashion shows and much more to celebrate the amazing diversity, promoting at all times, to feel proud of our nature.
Accompanied by an impressive Pride parade that runs through the main streets of the city, showing the creativity of different companies and individuals that under an annual theme, decorate their vehicles and dress in the colors of the rainbow. This annual event has placed Puerto Vallarta in the spotlight as one of the main places in the world to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride.

Vallarta Pride is an annual event held on the last week of May. It gets bigger and bigger every year!
It celebrates the diverse LGBTQ+ community that lives in and visits Puerto Vallarta.
The program of activities includes: the Pride Parade, which travels down Puerto Vallarta‘s main avenue and the Malecon, ending in Olas Altas Street at the Romantic Zone; and the ever popular Block Party on Lazaro Cárdenas Street with DJ’s, live music and a lot of fun.
In addition, there will be cultural and artistic events, movie screenings, sports, fashion shows and other activities to be confirmed.
In 2023, Vallarta Pride is themed “Be proud of your nature”, celebrating the natural richness of flora and fauna that makes Puerto Vallarta one of the world’s leading places to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride.

Puerto Vallarta Gay Pride and Parade 2023
Eight years ago, the first event looking to inspire, mark, and celebrate the LGBT community took place, and over the years it has become one of the best events to honor Gay Pride in Mexico, known as a world stage for celebration.

WE ALL KNOW Puerto Vallarta is THE BEST beach resort city in Mexico’s Jalisco state! There is also an impressive number of gay hotels in Puerto Vallarta, which get completely booked out during PV Pride and other big events like the New Year’s Eve White Party.
Vallarta Pride is a week-long annual pride event.
It has become one of the leading pride celebrations in Latin America. Events include arts and cultural events, concerts, films, beach parties and a lot of fun outdoor performances to show the world the fabulous diversity of Puerto Vallarta.
Vallarta Pride was created to showcase all the unique elements that have made the resort town one of the top destinations for the international gay community.
The Pride Parties
- Events kick off with a opening parties across all of the resort’s main gay bars and clubs together with The Pride Week at Mantamar Beach Club from the 23rd to the 30th of May. The beach club is situated along the famed Los Muertos gay beach in charming Zona Romantica. Live acts will perform at the Eden Club, The Mantamar and at The Top Bar over 5 days.
- The Top Bar typically hosts The Pink Dinner on opening night with live DJ, fireworks, a four course dinner and the “Pride Vanguard Award” presented by the Vallarta Pride Committee.
- Industry Night Club will host Puerto Vallarta’s Circuit Pride Festival over 4 nights, from the 27th to the 30th of May.
- Will Gorge’s “Lust Puerto Vallarta“, a series of late night after parties, continue the celebration after the nightclubs have closed.
The Pink Dinner & After Party
- Wednesday, May 24th – Multiple Venues from 7.30 pm – Pink Dinner Official opening event for Puerto Vallarta Pride featuring a gourmet meal at The Top restaurant followed by an after party at One Six One restaurant.
The Main Parade
- Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 7 pm – To be confirmed Join the Vallarta Pride Parade which takes place from the Sheraton down the Malecon and into the Zona Romantica!
